Andrew Y. Lu
An award-winning pianist leading student performances for older adults in New Hampshire.
Andrew Y. Lu is a tenth grader at Oyster River High School in Durham, New Hampshire. He began playing piano at age four and currently studies with Mila Filatova in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Andrew has participated in international piano competitions, receiving first prizes from Musical Fireworks in Baden-Württemberg, the South Florida International Piano Competition, and the Elite International Music Competition. He won New Hampshire's Music Teachers National Association competition and has received top prizes from the Young Artist String Competition. His performances have included MIT's Killian Hall, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, and Kaufman Music Center.
Since 2023, Andrew has led a cohort of Oyster River School District students in concert series at communities including RiverWoods and Harmony Homes in Durham. He enjoys sharing his musical gifts with his community.
Andrew also loves building robots. His teams have earned the Design Award at the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship and multiple awards at the New Hampshire and Vermont state championship.
