Our story
A small idea, growing in harmony
Harmonic Tie is a student-led organization dedicated to building harmonious bonds across generations.

2022
Founded by 11-year-old Grace Lan with a simple belief: young people could use music to help older adults feel less isolated.
Born during the pandemic, Harmonic Tie was founded to bring companionship, joy, and much-needed support to seniors experiencing isolation. The initiative was launched in early 2022 by 11-year-old Grace Lan.
From the beginning, senior communities warmly welcomed the program. Young musicians discovered that every performance could become something more: a conversation, a remembered melody, and a genuine relationship between generations.
In 2023, the organization expanded beyond its home community. Today, more than 30 young musicians across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia carry the mission forward in their own communities.
A concert may last an hour. The feeling of being seen and connected lasts much longer.
Still growing
The model is intentionally local.
Each chapter grows from the musicians and senior communities already in a place. That keeps every performance personal while allowing the mission to travel far beyond where it began.
